The tech is not only limited to developing additional features for on sale vehicles. New advances in augmented reality are also being utilized into the manufacturing process of these product to ensure the result is produced more efficiently and that these cars are more reliable. The way this system works is that a holographic assembly guide is laid out in front of the worker with the help of projectors. The virtual assembly guide comes with instructions and videos for the workers to follow and a visual and audio confirmation is relayed in case if any step of the assembly is carried out correctly or incorrectly. A Zion Market Research report claims that the augmented reality market will grow to $133.8 billion by the year 2021, which is substantial considering it only accounted for $3.3 billion in 2015.
Automated Trailer Hitching and Guiding System
Self-parking cars are a reality today, but the future of guiding systems will offer us control over our vehicles with even less human intervention. German company- Continental AG's north American subsidiary, Continental Automotive Systems Inc. is developing a system in which using the vehicle's reversing cameras and sensors, drivers will be able to hitch caravans and trailers with ease. The technology is expected to make its way into vehicles by the year 2020.
This guiding system technology also uses the cameras and the car's air suspension to regulate the speed and height of the vehicle, to easily hitch the trailer. This feature can also be used to automate ride suspension adjustments depending on the type of terrain the vehicle is on. The guiding system can assist drivers by increasing the ride height of the car in an off-roading environment or lowering the car to enhance aerodynamics and performance on a track setting.
