Mercedes has released its new luxury two-door CLE Coupé in the UK, replacing the discontinued C-Class and E-Class Coupés. With a starting price of £46,605, the CLE Coupé offers buyers a range of trim levels to choose from.
The entry-level model, AMG Line, comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, a reversing camera, automatic climate control, adaptive LED headlights, a leather steering wheel, interior ambient lighting, and a wireless phone charger. For additional features such as a panoramic sliding roof, heated seats, and a 360-degree parking camera, buyers can upgrade to the AMG Line Premium trim level for an extra £3,750.
The top-spec Premium Plus and Premier Edition models offer 3D Surround Sound and a heads-up display. The Premier Edition also includes Nappa leather upholstery and black exterior accents. For the latest advanced driving assistance systems, buyers can opt for the Driving Assistance Package Plus, which costs an additional £1,695.
All trim levels of the CLE Coupé feature an 11.9-inch central display for infotainment and a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster for the driver. The system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for seamless phone connectivity. There are eight paint colors to choose from, including three pricier options: Patagonia Red, Alpine Grey, and Opalite White. The boot space is 420 litres, slightly smaller than the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5.
At launch, the CLE Coupé offers four engine options, including three petrol and one diesel. All engines come with a mild-hybrid system and a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The CLE 200 and CLE 300 4MATIC models are powered by 2.0-litre four-cylinder engines, with the 300 offering more power and four-wheel drive. For those seeking more power, the CLE 450 4MATIC comes with a six-cylinder engine producing 376 bhp. The CLE 220 d is equipped with a 2.0-litre diesel engine, delivering up to 60.1 mpg. Notably, the CLE 300 and 450 are not available with the entry-level AMG Line trim level.
Compared to its competitors, the BMW 4 Series and Audi A5, the starting price of the CLE Coupé is slightly higher, starting from £46,605, while the BMW starts from £43,470 and the Audi from £42,545. Mercedes has also confirmed that a plug-in hybrid model will be introduced in the near future, and a Mercedes CLE Cabriolet is also in the pipeline.
