TWR unveils stunning V12 Jaguar XJS in highly anticipated return
【Summary】TWR is making a comeback after 20 years with their first project, a revamped V12 Jaguar XJS. They are partnering with Magnus Walker and Khyzyl Saleem to reimagine the XJS for the 21st century. Magnus Walker has been involved in every step of the car's creation process, and his reputation as a car restorer brings optimism for the final product. The goal is to create a drivable car that is practical and usable in real-world situations.
Tom Walkinshaw Racing (TWR), the renowned British racing and engineering outfit, is making a comeback after a two-decade hiatus. Their first project is the redesign of the V12 Jaguar XJS, in collaboration with car culture icon Magnus Walker and conceptual design guru Khyzyl Saleem. The goal is to reimagine the XJS, originally built between 1975 and 1996, for the 21st century.
Magnus Walker has been heavily involved in every aspect of the car's creation process. From designing the car to working with suppliers for parts and even road testing, Walker's expertise ensures enthusiasts have reason to be optimistic about the final product. Known for his work in restoring old 911s, Walker expressed his excitement about the project, stating that the original TWR put Jaguar on the map and this opportunity aligns perfectly with his vision.
Khyzyl Saleem, who has been working with TWR for some time, will use his considerable talents to visualize the perfect modern shape for the XJS. Saleem sees the project as an opportunity to give the XJS, often overshadowed by the E-Type, a new life and bring it into a new era.
TWR, founded in 1976, established a close relationship with Jaguar and collaborated on a race program for the XJS. The partnership yielded victories in the European Touring Car Championship and culminated in the TWR-Jaguar XJR-9 winning the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1990. Now, thanks to Tom Walkinshaw's son Fergus, TWR has made a much-anticipated return and operates from its base in Newbury, Berkshire. Fergus aims to deliver more bespoke creations that capture the spirit of TWR's heyday.
