Hyundai Unveils the Kona, its New Compact SUV

LOS ANGELES — Hyundai Chief Operating Officer Brian Smith took to the stage at Automobility LA to reveal Hyundai's newest vehicle, the Kona compact SUV. "What you about about to see is our new entry into one of the hottest segment in the United States" he said while unveiling Hyundai's new vehicle.

Hyundai says their new SUV has the three things that consumers crave, style technology and performance. Kona is designed for active urban lifestyles. Its versatile enough for weekend adventures or a commute to work on city streets.

The Kona is powered by Hyundai's new direct-injection 2.0 liter engine rated at 147 hp, or a 1.6 liter turbocharged 175 hp engine option.

The Kona also includes a head-up display that Hyundai say is among the brightest in the industry, offering easy visibility in daylight. Hyundai says the body is constructed with 50% high strength steel. The Kona also comes with stardard support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Hyundai will launch the Kona in March of 2018. So far, Hyundai has not released any pricing information, but is should be comparable to other vehicle in this segment.
