The company has confirmed that an all-wheel-drive upgrade option will be offered for the base trim of Model 3. The base model of the Tesla Model 3 will get a price tag of $35,000 and an option to upgrade to a dual motor setup.
The dual motor upgrade will cost an additional $5,000, so the base model with the dual motor, all-wheel drive setup will only cost around $40,000. In comparison, the long-range Model 3 with dual motor AWD gets a price tag of $54,000.

The Tesla Model 3 has performed impressively considering its sales figures for the month of July. The car is Tesla's only offering in the mainstream market. The base model with its competitive pricing of $35,000 is likely to be the most anticipated variant of the Model 3's options.
The reasonably priced standard variant has been attracting consumers from different segments and with a dual motor all-wheel drive setup, it is likely that Model 3 will also be able to influence potential sports and performance car buyers, with electric motors offering improved power and handling characteristics.

Other than the AWD setup, the more expensive Model 3 Performance variant distinguishes itself from the entry-level Model 3 by offering a host of features which are not offered on the standard variant. Nevertheless, the standard Model 3 manages to hold its ground by meeting high-quality standards.
Even the standard variant of Model 3 is offered with a battery pack that delivers 220 miles of all-electric driving range. The electric motor can propel this EV to 60 mph from a standstill in 5.6 seconds with a top speed of 130 mph.

In terms of safety, even the standard Model 3 variant gets Tesla's industry-leading safety system. This system is comprised of 8 cameras, 12 ultrasonic sensors, and forward radars. It uses information gathered by the sensors to avoid collisions and offer automatic emergency braking.
During the 2018 annual shareholder meeting, Elon Musk announced that the production of smaller battery packs for the standard trim will begin by the end of this year. The company also suggested that the standard variant might the launch sometime in early 2019.
