Ford's Mustang-inspired Mach-E Crossover Secures Reservations in all 50 States

Ford Motor Company's first electric SUV the Mach-E was inspired by the iconic Mustang. Ford's first-ever electric SUV even wears the famous pony badge. With its new EV, Ford is hoping to capture the allure of the original Mustang, which has gone on to become one of the world's most recognizable nameplates, and so far its working.
Since the Mach-E's global debut in November, Ford said that it received reservations from customers in all 50 states, indicating that there is much interest in Ford's new EV throughout the U.S. Ford said that this strong interest is attributed to the Mach-E's long range and all-wheel drive capability, which many customers prefer.
The Mustang Mach-E with available extended-range battery and rear-wheel drive has a targeted EPA-estimated 300 miles of range. Ford even shared the most popular color choice for the Mach-E—Rapid Red Metallic.
"Since revealing the Mustang Mach-E last November, we have seen a high level of interest from customers around the world. We designed the Mustang Mach-E with the aim to deliver an electric, guilt-free, performance SUV while providing peace of mind through our strong dealership network. Our strategy is working. With reservations from coast to coast in the U.S., we look forward to growing our reservations and delivering this SUV in late 2020," said Mark Kaufman, Global Director of Electric Vehicle Marketing & Distribution, Ford Motor Company.
Ford said that its new EV is especially popular with customers in the west and southwest U.S., with California, Nevada, Colorado, Arizona and Washington making up the bulk of the reservations.
The all-wheel drive option is popular with customers living in the Northeastern U.S, where 4X4 SUVs are often necessary to tackle snowy, New England winters.
Although Ford said that nearly 75% of customers nationwide are reserving the all-wheel drive version, in the New England states of Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts and New Hampshire, that number climbs to 90%.
The high-performance Mustang Mach-E GT also remains a popular choice, Ford said. Approximately 30% of all Mach-E reservations are for the GT model. The GT comes with a 98.8 kWh battery pack with a 0 to 60 mph acceleration time of just under 4 seconds. Ford is aiming for an EPA targeted range of 250 miles for the GT.
To support the launch of the electric of the Mach-E Ford is expanding its EV charging network, so driver's won't experience "range anxiety." The FordPass Charging Network is North America's largest public charging network, with more than 12,500 places to charge, including fast charging sites. The FordPass Charging network ensures that charging the Mach-E will not be easy for customers, no matter where they live.
Mustang Mach-E starts at $43,895 for the Select model, not including the $7,500 Federal EV Tax Credit. With the tax incentive, Ford's pricing is competitive with the Tesla Model 3, which starts at $39,990, while the upcoming Model Y crossover starts at $52,990 respectively.
Deliveries of the Select and Premium Mach-E versions begin in late 2020. The GT and California RT.1 Edition will be available by spring 2021.
