Tesla Chief Elon Musk Claims the Redesigned Roadster With SpaceX Package Will Hit 60 MPH in 1.1 Second

When replying to a question raised by a Twitter user, Musk said that with the help of Tesla's "SpaceX Package", the redesigned Roadster will be able to reach 60 mph from a complete standstill in just 1.1 second.

With the SpaceX package, Tesla says it will outfit its all-electric Roadster with cold air rocket thrusters, which will be integrated into the car's rear-end. Muck says that this package will be safe but also "very intense". He said the experience will be the "same as a hardcore roller coaster".
To put this in perspective, an F-22 fighter jet takes at least 2.15 seconds to hit 60 MPH under ideal conditions, while an extremely aerodynamic 8,000 HP drag racer needs slick tires and perfect road conditions to hit the 60 mph mark in about 0.8 seconds. Musk also claimed that the all-electric Roadster will "be able to fly very briefly", so it will be similar to the F-22 jet in that respect, although the ability for the tires to leave the ground is another bold claim from Musk.
The Roadster's acceleration figures were already impressive when the company first announced the second generation electric-only supercar in 2017, At the time, Tesla announced that its new Roadster could accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 1.9 seconds. Theoretically, with the right tires and advanced electronic torque vectoring system, achieving a 1.1 second 0 to 60 mph acceleration time is possible.
It's also possible that during its SpaceX package-enabled run, the Roadster might use Tesla's Full Self-Driving (FSD) capability to perform this ludicrous acceleration maneuver on its own. Tesla will likely fine-tune the aerodynamics of the Roadster as it redesigns the car.
The company aims to finish Roadster's development work sometime this year and begin production in 2022, although the production timeline for the Roadster with the Space X Package was not disclosed.
The next generation Roadster is already one of the most anticipated electric cars in the world. It's currently being showcased at the famed Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles.
