Ford’s Electrified Vehicle Sales Were Up 184% in May, F150-Lightning Reservations Reach 70,000

​Ford Motor Co released its May 2021 sales figures this week and the automaker appears to have bounced back since the pandemic of last year, while at the same time growing its electrified vehicle sales. The company's electrified sales, which includes both fully-electric and hybrid models, were boosted by the electric Mach-E SUV, the automaker’s first EV.

It's designed to expand map coverage for autonomous vehicles more quickly and efficiently. RoadMemory will automatically build updated HD maps using crowdsourced data collected from vehicle sensors, such as cameras, radar and lidar.

The Wall Street Journal reports that correspondence sent to Tesla in 2019 and 2020 from the SEC said tweets Elon Musk wrote about Tesla's solar roof production volumes and its stock price were not pre-approved by Tesla's lawyers. The vetting of Musk's communications is part of a 2018 settlement with the SEC after a tweet by Musk about taking Tesla private at a $420 a share.

Electric automaker Tesla is recalling nearly 6,000 U.S.-built Model 3 and Model Y vehicles because brake caliper bolts could be loose. In rare cases, the loose bolts can puncture the tire resulting in a sudden loss of tire pressure. The recall covers certain 2019-2021 Model 3 vehicles and 2020-2021 Model Y vehicles.

Senate Finance Committee Advances Bill That Includes Raising the Federal Tax Credit up to $12,500 on U.S.-Made EVs

​After a hearing on Wednesday, the U.S. The Senate Finance Committee advanced legislation for the “Clean Energy for America Act”, which includes a proposed increase to the current federal EV tax credit of up to $7,500 on the purchase of a zero emissions electric vehicle. The bill also includes a 30% tax credit for manufacturers to retool or build new facilities to produce advanced energy technologies including EV batteries, as well as incentives to for the purchase commercial electric vehicles.
