Dec 09, 2022 11:45 AM WSTCalifornia-based SiLC Technologies, Inc. (SiLC), a developer of advanced machine vision technology, announced the launch of its new Eyeonic Vision System this week. It's the first-of-its-kind Frequency-Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) lidar transceiver using a single silicon photonics chip which provides more than 10x the definition and precision of conventional lidar. It can measure the shape and distance of objects with high precision at distances greater than one kilometer (1,000 meters).

China’s CATL to Supply Honda with 123 GWh of Electric Vehicle Batteries by 2030
Dec 08, 2022 10:45 AM WSTJapan's Honda Motor Co has signed a major deal with Chinese battery maker Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (“CATL”) to supply electric vehicle batteries over the next seven years. From 2024 through 2030, Honda will purchase 123 GWh of batteries from CATL for its new fully electric vehicle brand “e:N” that was announced in October of last year.

GM Launches its Dealer Community Charging Program, Aims to Install 40,000 EV Chargers in Rural Areas and Small Towns Across the U.S.

The program in partnership with its dealership network aims to double the number of Level-2 EV charging locations in North America. The program will expand to Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers in January 2023.

Tesla Sells 100,291 China-Built Vehicles in November, a Record High
Dec 05, 2022 11:15 AM WSTElectric automaker Tesla had its biggest sales month ever in China during the month of November with sales of 100,291 vehicles, Xinhua News Agency reported on Monday. It’s the highest number of vehicles sold since Tesla’s Shanghai factory began assembling cars in late 2019. The record sales and production ramp up was made possible after improvements and upgrades were made at Tesla's Shanghai factory over the summer.

Uber and its Technology Partner Aurora to Expand Autonomous Trucking Pilot in Texas

Uber has been testing its autonomous trucking technology in the state with its technology partner Aurora Innovation Inc. The two companies are expanding their autonomous pilot with a new 600-mile commercial freight lane between Fort Worth and El Paso.

LG Chem is Investing $3.2 Billion to Build a Cathode Manufacturing Facility for Electric Vehicle Batteries in Tennessee
Nov 22, 2022 10:00 AM WSTElectric vehicle battery manufacturer LG Chem announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the state of Tennessee to establish a new cathode manufacturing facility for electric vehicle (EV) batteries in the city of Clarksville. The new plant will be the largest of its kind in the U.S. and will produce enough cathode materials to power 1.2 million EVs once fully operational.
