Mercedes-Benz received approval for its advanced automated parking technology that it co-developed with Bosch from Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA). The SAE Level-4 automated parking technology is approved for use at a parking garage at Stuttgart Airport. It’s the world’s first Level-4 self-parking function to be approved for commercial use.

Mercedes-Benz has always been a pioneer in safety innovation and developed a Level-3 system called “Drive Pilot”, that allows a driver to read a book or even watch a movie on the car’s infotainment screen after it’s activated by the driver. The automaker has a high-level of confidence in Drive Pilot, so much so that Mercedes-Benz says its will accept full liability for any accidents as a result of using it.

Germany's car watchdog has cleared the semi-autonomous driving system offered by Mercedes Benz, paving the way for the luxury carmaker to begin offering its “Drive Pilot” autonomous driving system internationally.
