Michigan-based BorgWarner Inc., which is one of the world’s biggest parts suppliers to the auto industry, announced a $500 million investment in Wolfspeed Inc., a developer and manufacturer of semiconductors and silicon carbide devices. Wolfspeed's family of products include Silicon Carbide (SiC) materials for applications such as electric vehicle powertrains, fast charging, 5G, renewable energy and energy storage devices.

Automotive component supplier BorgWarner has secured a second major supply deal with Hyundai Motor Co for an integrated drive module (“IDM146”) that will power a new electric vehicle that will enter production in 2024. The IDM optimizes weight, cost and size for electric vehicles. It integrates the transmission and high voltage hairpin (HVH) electric motor and power electronics into a single compact unit.
