Hertz to Purchase up to 65,000 Electric Vehicles From Volvo’s Brand Polestar Over the Next 5 Years

Hertz announced on Monday that it will purchase up to 65,000 electric vehicles from Volvo's electric brand Polestar over the next five years. Availability of the Polestar vehicles is expected to begin this Spring in Europe and late 2022 in North America and Australia. Hertz aims to offer the largest electric rental fleet in North America.

Fresh off the announcement that Hertz will purchase 100,000 Tesla Model 3s for its rental car fleet, the company announced a second partnership with Uber to add up to 50,000 Tesla vehicles by 2023 that Uber drivers can rent by the day. The Tesla Model 3s will be made available through Uber’s driver rental program. Hertz says the partnership is the largest expansion of electric vehicles on a mobility platform in North America and one of the largest globally.
